Stop Pop-Ups from Appearing on your Computer
Today, more than ever, pop-up ads are literally popping up everywhere. Pop-ups are annoying, time consuming and seem impossible to stop.
Take comfort! Your pop-up frustration is shared by the majority of internet users today. This frustration has driven a number of companies to develop inexpensive and simple approaches to solving pop-up madness.
You can stop pop-ups!
Pop-ups can appear through several sources. The most common is the web site pop-up. Not much you can do if the web site requires you to accept the pop-up as part of the site-experience. My advice:
- try to avoid these as possible (nearly impossible)
- install a free browser pop-up detector (free with the Google Toolbar)
- only accept pop-ups from trusted web sites.
Pop-ups can also be generated from within your computer.
They are smart little bugs that insert themselves inside your computer and wait for an opportune time to activate. They can arrive in email attachments. They can arrive through a variety of downloads from web sites that you visit. These nasty guys are more difficult to avoid unless you purchase some pop-up blocking software.
The better pop-up blockers will not only attempt to block pop-ups before they can insert themselves - but can also scan your computer for any that exist on your computer. You are notified that they exist and can choose to accept them, isolate them or delete and block them.
I personally would not venture into the Internet without one of these pop-up blockers.
